Toluene Di Isocyanate (TDI) is a colourless organic compound with the formula CH3C6H3(NCO)2 and six possible isomers. 2,4-TDI and 2,6-TDI are the two isomers that are commercially important. TDI is often marketed as 80/20 and 65/35 mixtures of the 2,4 and 2,6 isomers respectively.
TDI is primarily used in the production of flexible polyurethane foams, for applications including furniture, bedding and carpet underlay, in addition to packaging applications. TDI is also used for manufacturing sealants, coatings and adhesives.
